CO2 meter for healthier indoor air

The quality of indoor air has gained far more attention since the COVID pandemic as CO2 meters emerged as a household tool. But why have CO2 meters remained important even after the pandemic?

Advantages of a CO2 meter

It is important to measure CO2 in homes and offices but also in schools and public buildings.  A CO2 meter boasts a number of advantages in terms of:

  • Air quality: CO2 measurements are a good indicator of the general air quality in enclosed spaces. CO2 and other polluting substances tend to build up when the ventilation is poor to the detriment of air quality.
  • Health and well-being: A high concentration of CO2 in the air often leads to health ailments such as headaches, fatigue, dizziness and problems with concentration and attention – issues that will only get worse over time.
  • Productivity and cognitive functions: Studies have shown that high CO2 levels in an interior have a negative effect on the productivity and cognitive functions of the occupants. Healthy indoor air is consequently essential for a good learning and working environment.
  • Virus spreading prevention: It has become clearer since the pandemic that good ventilation of indoor spaces is key to preventing viruses from spreading.
  • Energy efficiency: You can optimise ventilation systems by measuring CO2 and save energy and costs.

Research has shown that CO2 levels are too high in classrooms 15% of the time even when the window open is open.

‘Smart Life CO2+’ meter: CO2 meter with extra functions

A CO2 meter can only mean benefits for your comfort, health and wallet at home for yourself and your family as well as at work for your colleagues and employees, so it is still relevant also in the post-COVID era.  And that is why we at Arizo are also offering our own version:  the Smart Life CO2+’ meter.

Air quality and health can be affected also by particulate matter of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in addition to CO2 and humidity. The ‘Smart Life CO2+’ meter is accordingly equipped with extra ad hoc sensors to measure reliably not only CO2 but also VOCs and particulate matter. Its quality has been tested and approved in our in house laboratory.

Arizo's “Smart Life CO2+” meter measures air quality.

CO2 meters are mandatory in certain spaces

Did you know that CO2 meters are mandatory in interiors larger than 15 m² where people stay for longer than 15 minutes?  An air quality label will also be required as of 2025. Contact us for advice if you want to know more.
